2 day week!

WAHAHA~ it feels like a 2 day week this week..

it's tues and i'm home by 11.30am. hee. (lessons end at 10am =)) tomolo no sch. the next day im giving myself a break from school! (it makes no sense to go to school for 9-10 and 4-5 lesson when the 2 lessons in between are cancelled. haha.

im so gonna give myself a well-deserved (or mayb not so deserving) break =)) muahaha..

after the break, some stuff to complete..

  1. LSM assignment 2. given lik 2 weeks ago and i totally haven started. except to download the required application, which i have yet to installed. and i have no idea why the application is needed or what it is for =XX

  2. all the unfinished tutorials. but not that urgent la. haha.

  3. school list by friday. target: get it all done by today. (not likely la.. haha. it seems easy to retrieve information but when you really do it, it's really a big headache =X)

and i got so irritated just now.. was trying to watch the video for the academy that i missed last night and the superband pre-finale. ARGH. all the academy's video were loading so slowly. =XX i tried at least 5 la!! must be my internet's prob. or it's just my prob of being impatient. and i can't find yest's superband eps. =(( oh wells.. gotta catch the retelecast this sat. =))

RANDOM. "The 20th Century Boy" movie sounds like some relaxing show; its poster look lik some kindaichi show; the words suggests mystery; but the 预告片 is so spooky. ppl chanting some stuff in a monotonous manner and a person wearing that symbol on his head said something - feels lik a cult.. so i dun even know what's the show supposed to be about. so if the aim of the show's promotion tactic is to give an aura of suspension, i think it has succeeded in some ways.

(checked out what the show is about. really does seem interesting. there's some conspiracy going on. and everyone likes a bit of conspiracy isn't it? just hope that the conspiracy wun be a disappointing one. din dare to read on further for fear of spoiling the fun. hee)

i shld really note down the shows that i wanna watch next time. otherwise when i really want to try to search for them.. i end up not konwing what is it that i wanna watch. =X

Mid-Term test

cleared all my mid-term test. *phew* came home at only around 11.30pm today. =X

oh wells... careless careless and more careless.. that's the problem with MCQ =XX

MLE1101 - that 1 answer that i changed went from right to wrong. =XX one mark gone for trying to be more careful by checking when actually it's a reflection of being careless..

MA1505 - HERH!!! i was too excited when i finally got the answer to one question that.. I FORGOT TO DO THE FINAL STEP to convert the answer to the form that's required. aka, bring the one third from LHS to the RHS and hence getting 3 as the answer?!?!?! and maths ppl so efficient. i just came home from the test and they uploaded all the solutions up le =X that mistake cost me 1 mark or 10% of my test or 2% of my entire module marks lo. (ok doesn't sound alot) HIYA!!!! 也许心痛真的比快乐更真实。。

EC1301 - HAIX. i think this the worst paper out of my three paper. and this is the paper that supposedly alot of ppl wil get full marks for. and judging from the no of mistakes i made, this paper is gonna hurt alot. =XX Econs MCQ ain't as easy as one might think, essay might be a headache but at least you get to explain your stand. in MCQ you dun even get a chance to interpret the question your way. once you are off, BYE! and trust me, the questions are tricky/ambiguous/unclear and the answers are so close/vague. =X at least 5 confirmed mistakes. and the rumours i heard is that.. a few mistake will result in a B grade. hmmmx.. so 5 mistakes.. =.. mmmzz..

oh wells it's always so easy to say.. think on the bright side. after all, the amount of right is more than the amount of wrong (i hope!!).. but.. just can't help but to think of the wrong. esp those careless mistakes! so pek chek! concept error stil ok - at least you learn somethin from your mistake and in the first place, you deserve to the penalised for not understanding it ma. =X so irritated!! but.. at least it's all over.

MCQ test ain't as great as i thought it'd be. =X

开声

i finally understand what it means by 开声. it really makes a difference manx. when you have difficulty hitting certain notes and your voice seems stuck, it's really a terrible singing experience. when you can just go on and on without that 咔咔 feeling then it's good news =) (wells. no 咔咔 doesn't mean perfect pitch or hit the right note. it just.. feels smoother.. =P)

ok so random. haha.

Part-time job

'hmm.. yesterday recieved a phonecall from a company "inviting" me to a part-time job. When i pressed on to ask about the job scope, i kept getting the reply "assisting in presentations". i do know the company though. din giv an answer though, said i'd give my reply today.

still hesistant about picking up their phone call. just rang a few moment ago, which prompted me to do a background check on the company.

mmms... interesting search results in forum..

it's a MLM company. (i guess it's slightly different from pyramid trading BUT STILL it's about sales) seems lik they r desperate to get ppl and are aggressive sellers. t0tally not for me.

and the ppl in the forum speak of the same concerns that i have.. why is it that they can get my name and contact number? and the person seems pretty confident that this is a potential person that he can drag into the company -- called twice (when i was having my exam) and once more after that (that's when i picked up)

forumers point out to 2 avenue of getting contacts: 1) provided by your frens in the company (i wonder if any of my frens r in the company.) if it's really via this mean, then those hu hav been approached recently - take note of the nature of this part-time job! 2) buying from some database. (hmm.. when did i last do a survey?! i tot info r not meant to be leaked?)

anw.. seems lik the ppl there are persistent in getting u into the company. so they'd keep calling every now and then. so.. shld i dao their calls till they r convinced it's not worth their time anymore. or shld i pick up the call and reject them? but it's tough rejecting firmly (as suggested by a forummer hu didn't manage to get the employees off his back no matter how firm and fierce he sounds)

for a moment, i did think it'd be quite an interesting experience. but seems lik i gotta wisen up and not be enticed too easily by words. Rmb: Nobody will approach you to join them if you are nobody.

@ 12:24 PM
MLE 1101 test

had my first ever mid-term test at NUS yest. haha. mle1101.

WA! so many ppl! so crowded!! haha. and i'm no. 20 =( which happens to be at the back of my section. (not right at the back but 3 rows from the back) i seldom see so many ppl in the exam hall (cuz usually i'd be isolated in my little silent corner). lolx.

the test was alright. it's MCQ --> meaning you can easily be penalised for being careless. and i changed only one answer when i checked my work. and i happened to change it from a correct answer to a wrong one. =X wad is this?? and it's supposed to be the "simpler" question cuz there's no calculation involved + it's only 1 mark. but i think i spent the most time on this question when i was checking my work, struggling about whether i should change my answer. =XX sighxx..

but anw.. 1 down. 2 more to go. all on monday. 6pm - 8pm Econs. 8.30pm - 9.30pm Maths. and my GEM assignment is due on monday (but i realise yest that i might have done the assignment in a wrong way. oh wells, i'm not gonna change it though. too late) monday's gonna be chaotic. but after monday, it's gonna be peace. =)

Nonchalence

hmmmx.. sometimes it's really puzzling to know why..

ppl who claim that they are not concerned about something will go to the extra length of enquiring about it.
and act nonchalent about the something.
then go around expressing their shockness about why others will even bother to be concerned about that something..
when in the first place, they shouldn't even care about whatever that goes on about the something concerned.

so the question is.. when a person keeps emphasizing on how nonchalent they are towards a particular issue, are they truly nonchalent about it?

New singers/band

wow. couple of new singers/band popping up with powerful vocals. though their music might not be the usual popular music, but it's still good to know that the music industry isn't just saturated with ppl hu are given a good overall package but have limited singing ability.

Vitas Lu (卢广仲) - 100 Ways for Living (100种生活)

he can do 海豚音!in 好想要挥霍,his voice went all the way up. when i first heard it on radio (and that was a live performance), i was quite shocked. :O

his songs might not be the usual type that i go for, but his singing abilities is definitely to be looked out for.

卓义峰 (Zhuo yi Feng) - 贩卖温柔

i've only heard of his zhu da thus far, which is the same as title. but he really can sing. and i quite like the feel of the song. and it's also his journey of someone who felt inferior about himself standing up and becoming successful in his own way.

神木与瞳 (Y2J) - 为你而活

星光二班 duo. that speaks alot about their 实力. hmm. their music ain't really my style and i guess i need some time to get used to the "rock" feeling. but their songs are uniue in their own style. worth listening to.

Jay's new album "Capricorn" 《魔杰座》

wow.. i highly anticipate Jay's new album "Capricorn" 《魔杰座》

i think it'd be a good album, as compared to 我很忙。at least the 主打 is very nice - i think. i lik the idea behind the song, about how we should be contented with what we have. A DJ was readin out part of the lyrics today on air, and i tot they were rather well-written and everythign flows nicely.

Here's his 主打- 稻香

Dao Xiang - jay

and if you pre-order can get the special rubik's cube!!!

Good or bad

phew. completed first draft for my GEM. =) but i think it's filled with quite a handful of flaws. *oops* gotta refine it - some other days perhaps.

here's an interesting story to consider: X is a nice and innocent, possibly to the extent of being naive, person. X treats people around with respect. Yet, there's a person A, who goes around talking bad about X behind X's back. One day, X buys a gift for A sincerely. When the seller asked why, X says that A is very good to X (Seller asks cuz in usual circumstances, others with relationship that's that shared between A and X will not be such an amiciable one). X on hearing seller's point of view, continues to exert that A is indeed very good to X. A accepts the gift but does not appreciate it, and soon forgets who was the sender of the gift. and others started to claim that they were the one giving the gift...

hmm. no, that's not part of my GEM essay. it's just some stuff that i saw, or rather heard, about recently. 有时候,看着极少有的好人,被其他人误会时,确实会让人感到心酸。

heard one statement today, which i think is a very true yet harsh reflection of reality. Not applicable for all of course, but adequately significant.

“会演戏的人就是好人;
不会演戏的人就是坏人”

true. he who acts best gets into the favour of others and can display the best of himself in the form of an act. (dun bring in the possibility of a good person putting on a bad and hard front. obviously that aint wad i mean. haha) he who does not konw how to act, does not know how to get into the favour of others, and hence remains not well-liked by others = bad person. oh wells, yes there's this underlying assumptiong that ppl like = good, adn ppl dun lik = bad. but by good/bad, i dun mean the intrinsic goodness or badness within the person; it's the goodness/badness perceived by others, which boils down to whether they have a good or bad opinion of you, aka they like you or not.

but of cos there are ppl who are good and you know they are not acting. the only thing is that, you need ppl belonging to the same category to appreciate this goodness. oh wells. what am i talking about?

last session of tuition

its my second last session of tuition today. tomolo's gonna be the last session.

hmms.. i was hoping it'd come to an end soon. but actually it's really quite enjoyable. as in the teaching part. but travelling; time commitment; having to give in to some demands etc wasn't all that nice.

but then again, i realise that i can have a stand, when i have to have a stand. mmmx..

And anyone interested in taking up tuition for JC students??

people always think that the alternative is better, because they will look at the ugly side of what they have and the rosy side of the alternative. upon getting the alternative, the roles exchanges.

Yest was the last day of "term". PHEW. ok la. actually uni life isn't that bad. i still lik the freedom i get - but i dunno if that's a good thing or not yet. it's enjoyable to do things with great flexibility. eating in LT, going into class late without anyone caring. ok mayb those ain't the key point. but the common thing is that there's no overpowering authority to shadow you, to constrain your actions, to instill a sense of fear in you. well mayb things ain't that scary as i make it out to be. in short, it's the "feel good" aspect of having break out of some inhibition that might not necessarily arise from external forces, but within yourself.

anw, i think i just had some super workout on fri. rushed from engin to arts to engin to arts. =X first went down the engin hill to the bottom point of art only to climb up the arts hill to the class. and then rushing down the arts hill and climbing up the engin hill (it;s lik going down 5 storeys down stairs, and going 6 storeys worth of upslope =x) within 6min, then "rolling" down the engin hill to my arts LT. lolx.it simply makes me wonder how did i ever manage to run up lucky heights last time. or rather, will lucky heights be nothing much in comparison to this? lolx. i anticipate myself becoming healthy and fit at the end of the semester due to this weekly workout. -.-

assignments

*phew* submitted LSM assignment online le. finally.. was rushing through some last-min change today. =))

BUT assignment 2 was just released. =X it's ok la. looks - i repeat, LOOKS - fun. cuz get to download some software to create protein structures. lolx. haven seen the questions though.

AND. my GEM assignment is due in one weeks time. and for the last 2 weeks, i have done.. nothing =X and i tot no one has done anything too since the no. of blog entries for the essay is lik 2? but today the lecturer just said his email is flooded with enquiries, meaning that i should get started NOW. come on think of 4 cases by tonight. tomolo will be my last chance to clarify any doubt i might have with my tutor - that is if i do take the initiative to clarify anything.

Concentric VS grid line
Hard cases VS easy cases.
Think.

anw i think dreams can be so real that it can decieve you as being the reality. or mayb this is the dream. had a weird dream today. can't rmb details, and it didn't feel real the moment i woke up. but in my dream, i did recall that it felt real - because i kinda rmb myself typing in a sms about how everything is a dream - though at the back of my mind in the dream, i had a strong feeling that this is a reality. oh wells, sounds so contradictory. =X

short school day!

ahh.. wad a great day today.. survived through the hectic days of sem 1 term 1. cuz.. there's no more LSM lab. haha. though it's just 4hrs more per week, but i have to stay for an extra amount of 8 hrs in school =(

but.. 3 weeks of lab over. and hence, every tues, it's home sweet home at 10am =)

some random stuff..
  • Was released at 9am today cuz they chapter happened to be very short. wells, i travel more than school hours - but it's ok. i hardly get this kind of relaxing days.
  • Long break! tomolo no school
  • heard li ren on radio just now :)
  • took an afternoon nap - something i haven't done for a long time cuz im in school from morning till nite =X and weekends im out of house most of the time for the past few weeks le.
  • Tried out google chrome: hmmx dun see much difference between the various browsers, but it's definitely more pictorial. but the loading time is far from ideal. tried google earth too. mmmx. nothing very special about it, though i must say i was quite shocked to see the world from my laptop. haha.

"The Academy"'s really quite a nice show to watch.. the scene about mdm's car breaking down was particularly unforgettable for today's episode.. because of the car breaking down, she was able to engage in a casual conversation with Qu-sir, and reminisce about the happy past. once the car started again, they parted ways to pursue their own life again. hmmms.. it's quite sad.. they know in their heart that they want that particular moment in time to stand still. but that moment arises only when something "breaks down" in their lives, causing them to stop for a moment. they enjoyed the moment, but the moment "normality" is restored, they bury and hide their true selves again to lead a life of self-denial again. it's just.. weird.

It's weird that when we know what we truly want (and that doesn't come often) - that will give us the most happiness - yet we choose to ignore the realisation and even take the path that will deviate most from that happiness on purpose. just can't understand why. or rather, we all know that life 充满无奈 and that could be the why. but the question of why goes to.. why did the why has to arise in the first place?

we try so hard to hide behind a mask perhaps because we dunno how to face up to our real self.

1700 post

the 1700 post.

it's raining now.

such contradictory feelings.

was feeling excited and happy just a moment ago for being able to find useful information for research despite language barrier. to be able to overcome (or think am able) what seems to be undo-able is thrilling actually. oh wells.

rain rain come again.

To mark the 1700 post..

Life is often so uncontrollable; we end up in situations that we cannot be true to ourselves - the problem being we don't even know ourselves to begin with. And we lose ourselves in the process of finding ourselves.

getting used to uni life

5 weeks in uni. 1 more week to mid-term break. time flies isn't it?

i've more or less gotten used to uni life le. and i guess i can say i kinda enjoy it. the freedom that i get in uni life. it is tiring because of the hectic timetable, but it feels quite good to be able to move around in school from one place to another without feeling any sense of oppression (too strong a word though).

maybe there's less opportunity to bond with ppl.. maybe you do get to meet more ppl, but you actually know less ppl. but i guess im ok with it. mayb it's just the thinking of a loner. it's ok to be alone and sometimes it's even better. especially if the alternative is to be in a group of ppl but not being yourself.

being everyone but not yourself; being yourself with only yourself.. hmmm..

and i've getting used to the concept of different ppl having different life to lead. some have the zest to go further than anyone can imagine. others are just contented with what they have. some have the extra X-factor to go the extra mile and pursue their dreams. others just wishes to remain in their own comfort zone and be glad that they have a dream in mind, though never to be fulfiled. some may be rich and living in luxury, but they might lose some things in life which they never did treasure. others might be poorer and living in a just ok-ok life, but they might find some things in life hard to get and learn to treasure them more.

at the end of the day, there's only one person you need to account to, and one question you need to answer. that is the question to you "am i comfortable with what i m doing?" the key is just be true to yourself. don't try to stretch your limit if you know you ain't gonna be truly happy about what you wil be getting at the end of the day. don't remain complacent if you know that you will never be happy with the current state of life. don't carry out actions that you think you will regret; don't refrain from carrying out actions that you know you will regret not carrying out. everything is a contradiction? yes, life is a contradiction in itself. it's about living life the way you want it be - and that is the best you can live it.

it's such an irony how one can slip into a state of displaying all the characteristics that one can't stand within oneself. maybe the ideal equilibrium state has yet to be found and the tipping over point has occurred. oh wells.

《义无反顾》

《义无反顾》is really an alluring show. somewhat similar to that of Central Affairs, but somehow more sinister..
Dunno why, but as i watch the show, i was filled with fear. not those fear that you get when u watch scary movies. but it's just a kind of fear of knowing what's next. about some kind of truth that you will nv want to know, yet u do know that it's always present as a fact of life.

the happiest moments in the show filled me with those feelings the most. the most memorable scene.. the 2 brothers taking a photo as a family. they were happy - after all the younger brother has just returned home from his overseas studies. but the wider their smiles and the louder their laughters, the more fear and sadness seems to overwhelm me.

i think i can guess what's gonna happen next. events r gonna unfold lik some pandora box that should hav been left alone but was somehow opened. maybe i've watched shows of similar plots that gave me this sense of anticipation, which might or might not be a good thing. Strong and close ties souring to one of deception and plotting. photos capturing the happiest moments of one's life, ending up as mere artifacts of joy that never seems to return.

maybe i've just reached a stage of watching too many shows such that it gives me weird feelings. nonetheless, these feelings propel me to follow the show even more closely than ever. after all, watching the show should beat imagining it. but then again, how real is a show? or rather, or fake is a show relative to reality?

and it's very distinctively ATV production. even though the actors weren't very ATV-looking (more of TVB), but i know that's ATV from the feel it gives me. something less exciting, less grand. something closer to our hearts. something that might seem to have a slow pace, but much time was given for the expression of emotions - not explicitly, but in a subtle and alluring manner. it's just so ATV.

but TVB's The Academy is nice too ^^ lots of thinking points dropped here and there, though not obviously. but it's really good for invoking some deep reflections within oneself. reflecting without doing anything - that's another issue. oh wells.

vincent bro wedding lunch

attended vinc's bro's wedding buffet lunch today.

haha. it feels quite weird. cuz the few of us know vincent, but we dunno the brother. in a crowd where almost everyone is their relatives and his bro's frens/tuition kids, we r like kinda "extra". but we kinda self-entertained ourselves by eating and talking. lolx. though it doesn't feel as though we haven't met up for a long time, but in actual fact, i do feel lik there's lots of catch up, especially on our uni lives. haha.

we left as aruptly as we went. felt kinda weird.

saw ppl being busy going from one place to another. i guess all the business is worth it for the couple. and for the rest, it's worth it seeing the entire event running smoothly. despite being stressful and busy, when the outcome achieved is something joyous, i guess that's all tat matters. now do i c why do some ppl enjoy the job of a wedding planner.

wells.. i do see the fact that we're all busy with our uni lives. hardly have time for ourselves.. it makes me feel better in knowing the fact that im not alone on this - even though the subject itself isn't something worth applauding about. just hope that amidst all the busy-ness (just realised if u try to spell bus-i-ness, it becomes business) we will stil be able to spare some time for frens around us. otherwise we will just grow further apart as time passes by and who knows, when we think back about this in the future, we might realise what we lost was more than what we gained? or maybe it'd be the other way round. who knows?

the question is.. who knows?

consciousness

mmms.. something good happened out of something bad yest for my GEM module. my lecturer sprained his back and couldn't get out of bed (hope he'll recover soon) and the other Greek mythology person in his dept was on leave too. hence, he got another prof to do a talk about the philosophy of the mind, which was really really really interesting.

basically he's talking about various theories to explain consciousness. we have the dualism on one side insisting that the mind has to be something that's not of material being amidst the materialistic being that we are. and we have the materialist on the other end insisting that even thoughts is something physical.

i think enough has been said about these 2 theories so moving on to something new.. there' 2 thought-experiments that philosophers have come up with. One called the Bat experience. Suppose you knew every single thing about the bat, up till the small details as to which neurone will send what signal to exactly where for what purpose. You know everything bout the bat, but undeniably, you can't say you have bat experience - for the simple reason that you are not a bat. if all that's to a bat is something material, then you will know everything. but since you do not know bat experience, hence the material being is not all there is to the bat. there's something about it that you still dunno - unless of cos if you r a bat. How can you know about something if you have not experienced it? tat's wat the bats have - past experiences of themselves. they r conscious beings with cognitive experience.

another thought experiment called Mary experience (or experiment can't rmb). she is someone hu knows exactly how optics work. how light goes into our eye, stimulates some rods and cones, sends signal to the nerve endings, transmits impulses to our brain. however, she can't c colour - only black and white (or grayscale for that matter) yeah, she knows there is colour, their wavelength, how they stimulate the brain, the exact impulses that needs to be passed though the exact location in our body. but does she really know what colour is? another way that i use to c this is - if she were to really see a colour say purple one day, wil she be able to say YES! that's purple! i c it! or will she be lik "wad's that?" and takes a machine to measure the wavelength to determine that that's the colour purple. and of cos from then onwards, she can then associate that colour with purple - without the use of machines. and wells, perhaps that's the process of learning and forming past experiences.

anw. the concept of consciousness was debated. say, pain. it was caused by a stimulus, and this signal was transformed to something non-material called consciousness of pain, which then produces the effect of feeling pain. or was it just stimulus -> interactions of nerve endings at specific spot--> pain. If you did not experience the effect in the first place, how do you know the pain exist?

and it was rather scary. cuz in the middle of the lecture, i had this biazzre thoughts that everything around me didn't exist. i can't be sure if what i m seeing exist, or is that just an illusion or something that the brain created from all the signals shooting and nerve impulse transmission. And scarier still, I picture myself to be, say, in a tv set, adn everything in the lecture hall is just something on tv. That everything is so unreal. Can the image in the tv think? what if i m that image? n if i m really that image, i will not be able to know that i m that image and that there's a world out there, since my world would be confined to within the image. that's a real scary thought which i shook off as quickly as it came to me. in spite of that, that creepy thought came to me a couple of times during the lecture. *shudders*

*PS. in the midst of blogging this down, i was so inspired to reply to the blog entry on this lecture -- and hence i fulfiled my 2nd blog requirement. wahahah. killing 2 birds with one stone

finally some time for myself

after 2 weeks.. i finally can dedicate some time to myself.. phew~ okies despite clashes in schedule (and hence missing the meeting), at least the tuition is early in the morning, meaning i get to go home early afternoon and hence it feels as though i have alot of time left for myself. it's been a long time since i last felt that way.and sometimes even shopping or talking with frens or even watching tv doesn't give you this kind of feeling. It a kind of feeling that u get when u finally can find back yourself after the you was doing so many other things other than being you. -.-

Anw, yesterday's "Xue Jing Xiong Xing" left me with a sudden thought.. The best thing in life is to be you. Even if you give up certain things, you ain't a failure and you dun lose the game because in the process, you have found the true you. It might be sad that you r giving up the certain thing since u hav put in much effort thus far, but it's still better to give up something that you have worked for but you dun lik, than to continue working for it to get unhappiness out of it or to neglect/act as though u din care about what you truly want. and of cos, that's assuming u know what you truly want, which is probably the most difficult part i guess. There are some things in life that you can give up the whole world to get and it is the same thing that upon giving up, nothing else in the world matter to you anymore. “输了你,赢了世界有如何”im beginning to lik this show (for reasons apart from the fact that it's a HK show)
every journey is one of self-discovery

done bio essay

yay! finally the backbone of my bio essay is out le~ next step is simply to transform my point forms into paragraphs and doing citations. =)

it's kinda funny how i reversed the order of writing the paper for a part of the essay. usually it's research --> write. now i'm writing freely from whatever that comes to my mind and next time, i'll try to find some evidences online to substantiate my stuff ba. lolx. perhaps got too sian trying to find info online with not-so-relevant search results (prob due to my bad choice of key search terms) so i might as well generate the facts myself. think of it another way - it might be for the better cuz i definitely can't plagarise someone eles's work from something that came out of my brain - unless there happens to be someone who thinks lik the way i do. and that's quite scary.

wahahaha.. and tv here i come. sad isn't it? my 4hr tv spree is shortened to 3hr =( how i wish i can reach home by 7 everyday rather than 8 =( but it's ok i can watch the show on TV mobile - only thing is tat usually i wil find myself asleep on the bus. WAKE UP!

Meet the mentor session

wee~ din regret going for the meet-the-mentor session today! my mentor is really a nice person (based on first impression) ^^ it was kinda akward though, cuz we didn't really know what to talk about so the things we talked about was kinda forced out. haha. can see that he's trying to think of what to say, so in the end he mainly touched on how to cope with uni.

but that's the plus point of my mentor. i think if i had gotten an outspoken mentor, i wil feel rather uncomfortable and intimidated. now that i've gotten a rather quiet mentor, it makes me feel more at ease. and he's always smiling - so m i. i think both of us dunno how to react so keep smiling. lolx. there were 2 other mentees with us too and esther (hu's mentor din come).

i think im gonna lik this mentorship programme. =) my mentor seems really nice and someone whom i can get along with ^^

****

asked about whether i can try appealing into chemical science programme. it's possible but now that i look at the study plan of the programme, suddenly i dun really feel lik joining again. (when u r about to get something, u dun wan it. when u dun hav it, u want to have it?)

anw, let's look at the bio aspects of both chem eng and chem sci programme.

Chemical Science Programme:
1) Biochemistry of biomolecules
2) Molecular genetics
3) Metabolism and Regulation
4) Experimental biochemistry
5) Cell biology
6) Spectroscopic application
7) Organic synthesis and spectroscopy
8) Electives offered by bio eg. bacteria, drug delivery, protein etc.

These doesn't seem as interesting as before.

Chem Eng specialisation in biomolecules
1) Biochemical engineering
2) Downstream Processing of Biochemical andPharmaceutical Products
3) Chemical and Biochemical Process Modeling
4) Engineering Principles in Drug Delivery
5) Chemical and Bio-catalysis
6) Enzyme Technology
7) Bioanalytical Instrumentation
8) Molecular Biotechnology

1, 2, 4, 7, 8 seems interesting.

what is this?? what should i choose? haix. OH and somehow if you specialise in this biomolecules thingy, you can be a doctor. (that's wad the ppt slides say lol) but that's not my main concern. more concerned about forensic science and something bio in nature. ^^ meanwhile shall go back to searching for info for my essay. off i go~

Ying is out! =(

:( Ying wasn't revived. haix was hoping they will be revived. i liked their delivery of Hai Kuo Tian Kong. agreed with wad the judge said - they really sang as though they r departing the music industry lidat. =( and after the song, you can really see the lead singer's eyes brimming with tears. can really c his passion for music. and i think he can sing de lo. if they started off with this style right from the beginning, they'd definitely be my fav in superband.

B7 樱-海阔天空

Wu Ge Ren and C! Star was revived =X i din think both of them deserve to be revived. mayb Wu Ge Ren stil has their youth appeal, but C! star din leave any impression on me =X

HERH! found a series of videos of xing guang 1 and 2 singing the k hits,. =) enjoying them!! wahahha.. though outdated by 6months. lolx. and i think peter pan has shown much improvements in singing li ren. the feel gets stronger and stronger, not to mention his vocal skills too. but.. why does he always choose that song? as in, no objection to that song cuz i really lik it.. but its just puzzling y is it always that song. haha.

Time no enough

ARGH! was caught in a terrible jam yesterday when coming home on bus 30 =XXX

took me alomst an hour to move from NUS to harbourfront.. whole journey was about 2hr. reached home at 8.20pm.. zzz..

and since my bus was literally stationary, i had the "luxury" of taking photos of the jam. (when it's about to clear tho. =X)

so dark le

moved my phone to make the cars look as though they are moving forward =.=

hence took train home today instead. whole journey was only 1hr 15min, inclusive of walking home time. that's a saving of 45min!!

herh! it's really time no enough siah. wake up early in the morning to go school only to return home late at night..

Pending work:
1) Bio Essay (haven started and deadline is drawing near) Some more the essay is no longer exam kinda essay. it's an attempt to write a science journal kinda thing. something like that.
2) MLE tutorial - Lesson this week but yet to complete.

well seems lik there's supp to be lots more thing but i just can't seem to recall them. oh wells. haha.

on a lighter note.. new 9o'clock show today! seems funny and brainless. haha. shld be rather interseting ba. =)) I think "The Defining Moment" was a show with a grand title and interesting concept - with a weak plot. At the end of the day, it's just about ppl going mad + office politics + finding what's truly important to one. and honestly, the last 2 factors r really common in shows and it gotta take a real lot of effort for anyone to break out of the 框框 that these shows r trapped in to produce a truly brillant and oustanding work. as for ppl going mad, it isn't that common, the plots go really bad. not much depth, just ppl screaming around and doing weird things = going mad.

and actually.. though the ending was supposed to be a happy one, but somehow, when the last scene came out, i was feeling this tinge of sadness. i dunno why. perhaps it's just disheartening to see how ppl had to go thru a big circle and put themselves thru tortorous moments of harming ppl around them only to realise it's all for nothing. ultimately, it's things around us that we always had but never consciously having that really matters - yet they r ever so readily neglected..

and i m more convinced than ever of this - "Ppl can share bad times, but not good times". In bad times, the few ppl that you have r the only ones who will be with you - and everyone is dependent on everyone else. ties grow stronger and ppl bond together. however, in good times, ppl tend to overlook whatever ties they have and be blinded by the wealth, power and fame in their pursuit of an even better life. eventually even good pals or brothers can turn against each other. how counter-intuitive this idea is. oh wells.

Blade: Trinity

watched Blade: Trinity on Channel 5 yesterday. it's a show on vampire!!! or at least the advertisement said so..

actually was quite disappointed la.. haha. somemore stay up from 10.30pm to 12.40pm to watch. that's an opportunity cost of 1hr40min of sleep.

in terms of the show. yeah it's action packed (Quite) and mayb quite exciting. it's those show that makes you want to carry on watching once you've started to watch it.

BUT it gives vampires such a lousy portrayal. when they're shot/sliced, they simply get reduced to ashes. so unglam. and they literally become chaota when the sun shines on them. unglam x2. and though the vampires there manifest themselves in the form of human - but that doesn't make them any much human than the zombie kind of vampire. tat's worse actually - it's better if you use something ugly to represent an ugly behaviour (zombie jumpings around?) rather than something less ugly with ugly behaviour (human-looking vampire with non-humane characteristics)

and i dun lik the fact that the vampires in the show gives ppl a sense of fear. it seems as though they are of superior beings with some greater-than-human power just that they're uncasted and hated by all. and somehow, they give a psychopath feeling - nothing but just blood-hungry creatures. but than again, humans might prove themselves to be even skilful in this aspect. (mayb not literally hungry for blood.) oh wells.
Abigail - Quite a cool vampire huntress (acher)

and vampires lost the game =( but i do appreciate the character of Dracula, or whatever name he has from the various forms he can manifest in. he might seem lik so extremely evil and much feared character, but i think he is simply someone who has a mind of his own. he percieves right and wrong not in the usual way that we do. he doesn't see himself as the baddy nor Blade as the good guy. the distinction between the two doesn't stem from right and wrong. rather, he was able to respect Blade because he fought with honour - and he accepted his defeat rather readily. pretty unique character, though he has the downside of being feared by everyone - including those of his own kind.
