The Mask

Forensic Science minor is calling for application again! :( haha but I'm quite glad I made the choice that I did, which I thought turned out to be a good one. Cuz (1) I increasingly believe that i cannot stand labs. (2) Econs turned out to be quite fun, and I expect it to get even better at high levels cuz more maths will be involved ^^ Since i'm on this topic, I shall reiterate that I'm quite happy that I made chem eng my choice :) I quite enjoy wad im doing now, albeit the ?_? expression that appears sometimes. =D

Munchie Monkeys

wohoo~ the few of us had lunch @ Munchie Monkeys @ Yih today. Just a random side note, 4 out of 6 of us were wearing purple/pink today. :O Anyhows, why were we there? For an advanced birthday celebration. Tuang~ wahaha so there's another person stepping into the 20s region. *muahaha*

The place's not bad :) hmm food-wise.. I'd say I'll return for the desserts *yum*, but for the main course.. hmmm..

I had the Singapore Chicken pasta. lol i din quite expect it to be pasta and chicken. lolx. tot it'd be somewhat like Pastamania's version. hmm i din like the pasta cuz it's just olive oil and garlic. but the chicken was quite good. Oh yes, the portion was very small. Even those that ordered "Big Set Meal" had a huge plate with very little pasta and meat -.- this made me hungry at the end of the day =X

wohoo~ desserts! we shared apple cobbler, brownie and waffle. My ranking of preference: brownie > apple > waffle. Wa! the brownie was really really good!! It's rich, yet doesn't feel so sweet that it makes you sick. Brownie's warm and the ice-cream's melting! Nice combi! No wonder it's like its specialty dish! :D apple cobbler did have the wow effect when i had my first bite but its relative impact loses to the brownie. As for the waffle, it tastes rather empty and has to be complemented by the ice-cream. We were so inspired to have lunch @ Munchie Monkeys once a week just for the brownies. *wohoo~~

INTJ

INTJ
The Strategist
I
ntroverted iNtuitive Thinking Judging

As an INTJ, your primary mode of living is focused internally, where you take things in primarily via your intuition. Your secondary mode is external, where you deal with things rationally and logically.

INTJs live in the world of ideas and strategic planning. They value intelligence, knowledge, and competence, and typically have high standards in these regards, which they continuously strive to fulfill. To a somewhat lesser extent, they have similar expectations of others.

With Introverted Intuition dominating their personality, INTJs focus their energy on observing the world, and generating ideas and possibilities. Their mind constantly gathers information and makes associations about it. They are tremendously insightful and usually are very quick to understand new ideas. However, their primary interest is not understanding a concept, but rather applying that concept in a useful way. Unlike the INTP, they do not follow an idea as far as they possibly can, seeking only to understand it fully. INTJs are driven to come to conclusions about ideas. Their need for closure and organization usually requires that they take some action.

INTJ's tremendous value and need for systems and organization, combined with their natural insightfulness, makes them excellent scientists. An INTJ scientist gives a gift to society by putting their ideas into a useful form for others to follow. It is not easy for the INTJ to express their internal images, insights, and abstractions. The internal form of the INTJ's thoughts and concepts is highly individualized, and is not readily translatable into a form that others will understand. However, the INTJ is driven to translate their ideas into a plan or system that is usually readily explainable, rather than to do a direct translation of their thoughts. They usually don't see the value of a direct transaction, and will also have difficulty expressing their ideas, which are non-linear. However, their extreme respect of knowledge and intelligence will motivate them to explain themselves to another person who they feel is deserving of the effort.

INTJs are natural leaders, although they usually choose to remain in the background until they see a real need to take over the lead. When they are in leadership roles, they are quite effective, because they are able to objectively see the reality of a situation, and are adaptable enough to change things which aren't working well. They are the supreme strategists - always scanning available ideas and concepts and weighing them against their current strategy, to plan for every conceivable contingency.

INTJs spend a lot of time inside their own minds, and may have little interest in the other people's thoughts or feelings. Unless their Feeling side is developed, they may have problems giving other people the level of intimacy that is needed. Unless their Sensing side is developed, they may have a tendency to ignore details which are necessary for implementing their ideas.

The INTJ's interest in dealing with the world is to make decisions, express judgments, and put everything that they encounter into an understandable and rational system. Consequently, they are quick to express judgments. Often they have very evolved intuitions, and are convinced that they are right about things. Unless they complement their intuitive understanding with a well-developed ability to express their insights, they may find themselves frequently misunderstood. In these cases, INTJs tend to blame misunderstandings on the limitations of the other party, rather than on their own difficulty in expressing themselves. This tendency may cause the INTJ to dismiss others input too quickly, and to become generally arrogant and elitist.

INTJs are ambitious, self-confident, deliberate, long-range thinkers. Many INTJs end up in engineering or scientific pursuits, although some find enough challenge within the business world in areas which involve organizing and strategic planning. They dislike messiness and inefficiency, and anything that is muddled or unclear. They value clarity and efficiency, and will put enormous amounts of energy and time into consolidating their insights into structured patterns.

Other people may have a difficult time understanding an INTJ. They may see them as aloof and reserved. Indeed, the INTJ is not overly demonstrative of their affections, and is likely to not give as much praise or positive support as others may need or desire. That doesn't mean that he or she doesn't truly have affection or regard for others, they simply do not typically feel the need to express it. Others may falsely perceive the INTJ as being rigid and set in their ways. Nothing could be further from the truth, because the INTJ is committed to always finding the objective best strategy to implement their ideas. The INTJ is usually quite open to hearing an alternative way of doing something.

When under a great deal of stress, the INTJ may become obsessed with mindless repetitive, Sensate activities, such as over-drinking. They may also tend to become absorbed with minutia and details that they would not normally consider important to their overall goal.

INTJs need to remember to express themselves sufficiently, so as to avoid difficulties with people misunderstandings. In the absence of properly developing their communication abilities, they may become abrupt and short with people, and isolationists.

INTJs have a tremendous amount of ability to accomplish great things. They have insight into the Big Picture, and are driven to synthesize their concepts into solid plans of action. Their reasoning skills gives them the means to accomplish that. INTJs are most always highly competent people, and will not have a problem meeting their career or education goals. They have the capability to make great strides in these arenas. On a personal level, the INTJ who practices tolerances and puts effort into effectively communicating their insights to others has everything in his or her power to lead a rich and rewarding life.

Buying

was checking out the bazaar sales @ central forum today. tempted to get so many things. screen protector/crystal casing; new SE headset (hpm 70); mouse for my dad. and calculator from co-op.

being as paranoid as ever, i went online to search about headsets. Since hpm 70 is an in-ear type, i was quite worried about how exactly I'd feel using it cuz i've heard how scary it is to insert something directly into your ears (and also positive feedbacks though about its level of comfort-ness and good sound quality). My conclusion is that.. I shouldn't get the headset and I should forget about listening to music on the go. =X I think it's too damaging for the ears; and i kinda feel that my hearing is declining as the days go by. (I can hardly hear my fren when she was talking to me during lecture. =( And i read online that a sign of bad hearing is the inability to "hear what you want to hear") It's particularly bad with my new hp cuz the volume is supposedly low, but after i remove my earpiece, I felt "more deaf" than before (I up-ed the volume bar by alot to hear a bit of music -.-)

I had a feeling that i went "slightly deaf" today during econs lesson. cuz the lecturer's mike volume suddenly went very soft, but nobody else seemed to be affected except for me. I found myself covering one ear followed by the next, trying to test if both my ears are functioning -.-

Anw, i feel very irritated now. As in, i can't keep still. there's this overwhelming sense of energy prompting me to constantly move about otherwise there'd be this feeling of anxiety/irritatedness in me. It has to be the aftereffect of drinking this Mocha Soyabean today. Sigh.. i din know such minute does of coffee would elicit such a body response in me afterall =X I just hope I can sleep tonite.

Anw, the drink is so-so. worth the money ($1.40) but a tad too bland (as with most ice-blended drink). I shall just stick to my pearly soya milk after all.

oh and satio (costs $1200+ :O), aino and yari are out in Singapore already (as of 24th Oct).

AOB

:( i dropped my phone on the rough road two days ago. now it's scratched! grrr.. The main culprit is my own carelessness of course, but an "accomplice" is my hp pouch :( it's supposed to protect my handphone, who knows it's precisely cuz i put it in my hp pouch, tt's y i dropped my phone. haix. fortunately, the damage wasn't that great but still significant for a new phone =X I guess it's just fortunate that the damage was concentrated at the side and corners at the back, rather than the front, otherwise i'd have to face the scars every moment =X

Anws, my timetable is getting "slacker" le! ^^ CTW lessons have unofficially ended, what's left is just the conferencing and oral defence (altogether 30min) together with the final lesson. I finally cleared all my 3 organic chem labs. (not the lab report tho =X) hence im gonna get a short wed and fri, with lunch break on wed :D after monday, i'd clear my second and last thermody presentation.

oh i think the new movie "Almalfi" is gonna be a nice show. Think it's a Jap mystery show with elements of relationships. The preview seemed very elegant. Just a side thought: I wonder how a truly elegant crime would be like. There used to be an episode on a "perfect crime" in Kindaichi series, which i thought was a total flop (-.-"). I wonder if there's gonna be any crime that once committed, people would just be amazed by the crime itself or even show some admiration, rather than criticizing it immediately. (save for those who strictly believe that all crimes are wrong, and all wrong cannot be tolerated.)

[Edited 18 Oct] I think Flashforward is quite a worthy watch. I liked the concept of how knowing the future determines the present and how ppl would live by the future. A bit of mystery too. Just a tad too draggy for my taste, but then again, I find almost everything draggy, so it should be my own personal issue. Actually I think it might have been better to make a movie instead of a series. Oh wells.

Final Choice: SE C510

Okies, I finally bought my new handphone!! Final Choice: SE C510

I was distracted by so many other brands and other SE models but alas my decision was still the one that I made initially. (well, before I gave up on G705 and W705)

First impression: The silver colour's warmer than I imagined but still reasonably shiny. lol. the shiny screen isn't that shiny yet cuz i still have the protective plastic layer on. :D This phone's faster than K770, but laggier (contradictory?) cuz I think the A200 platform isn't that steady. And I have flash menu on my hp! (cuz it's not a singtel handset -.- it's a long complicated process how i got it recontracted under singtel) keypad's easy to press (lol.. vast improvement from my previous phone, which only I can press)

(not taken by the phone itself -.-)

Music: :( gathering from all the online comments, i tot music would be superb in this phone. i was quite disappointed cuz i could hardly hear my radio (on K770 i only needed volume 1-2 to hear it). I should think that the quality's better, but the volume is really low. Perhaps a consoling point is that some walkman phones are just as soft anyway -.- and mine's a cybershot :D it's scary to think that I need volume 4 to hear the song at home - i bet i need to max the volume to listen to music on bus trips. [Headset's really bad - seriously gotta consider getting myself a better headset]

Camera: Initally i was quite disappointed, but I was ready for the disappointment anyway. However, after trying out the camera, i realise that photos taken by this phone is more natural. (vs the unnaturally saturated photo produced by K770, which I liked actually. it just seemed bright and colourful) Its autofocus is super powerful! In fact everything seems to be in focus without me activating AF. And i agree with all that I've heard - it's completely useless in the dark. Your final product = a black photo. ROFL! I don't understand one thing though - why cant i activate my flash as and when i like? Oh and its smile detection is quite effective. haha.

Others: okies functions eg. facebook, youtube, weather forecast, google map etc. to me are mere gimmicks - I will never ever use them, unless i get a data plan that is. Accelerometer is something new to me, but not a necessity. Probably I haven't got to see its merits yet. Media centre is complicated (it's supp to be a plus point for SE phone tho =X) threaded sms is great! Every other things are mere replicates of K770 functions (probably improved, but I have yet to see the difference.)

Hmm.. I want to upload some photos taken by the phone, but.. internet's super slow and im taking forever. (thanks to my dad watching some variety show online. got eason though. haha..) shall do it another day then. [I give up uploading photo. file size too big and it takes forever.]

Double disappointment

hmm the re-test is gonna be for ppl seated at the back, defined as multiples of 15-25. I happen to be one person in front of those considered to be "seated at the back". haix hence i cannot go for the re-test. 10% gone just like that. double disappointment - first for not being able to hear instructions, 2nd for sitting one seat ahead of "ppl behind".

@ 3:45 PM
My Handphone

My current handphone pouch is torn beyond recognition and weird things always fall out of it -.- So... Since I haven't decided on which new hp pouch to get (colour, design etc), I went to grab the free one that came with Marigold Yoghurt Drink. I liked the interior design (there's different compartments for different things) cuz I can now put my headphone and my handphone together in one place. Then again, it doesn't really matter until i get my new handphone since the current headphone is spoilt -.-

That's my phone! K770i :D Okies paint has come off, 2 buttons dropped off. *oops* sigh.. I really like this phone alot. It's my first time liking a phone so much. =X Ironically, it might be precisely because it's so badly damaged that i like it that much. If you get what i mean...
Heh Heh actually I quite like the back of my phone. Looks like there's alot of things. =X haha. How?? Should I trade in my phone for $60? Or retain it, but it's spoilt anyway.. (once i remove my SIM card that is..)

Student Meal Attack on NYDC

Being e-learning week, it's an appropriate time for the few of us to continue on our "Students' Meal Attack". Our target this time is the NYDC @ Bugis Junction! :D And that's the wall drawing to the left of our table.

For a student price of $8 (2-6pm only), we could choose from the entire range of spaghetti or baked specialties (comes with a drink). I chose the Beef Lagsana set (along with two others. and we 3 actually chose the same food for the previous outing too. lol) It's my first time eating lagsana, not bad i'd say. Full of flavour. We chose to top up 3 of our set meals with $3 to get their cakes (none of us chose their specialty drinks lol) From left (not in exact name): Tiramisu, UGLY CAKE, Goldmine Cheesecake. Lesson learnt: Do not be deceived by looks. Ugly cake doesn't taste "ugly" too. In fact, it's the only "hot" cake around (they re-baked it for 40sec) Overall the cakes were okay, probably slightly too rich. Anyways, i wasn't really a cake lover.

Oh and we had a complementary cup cake too. How to get it? Have 6 people trying to cut the tiramisu cake with fork. End result: As seen below. :)

After that we went shopping around Bugis Street for clothes. Nothing caught my eye (I was the only one who din buy anything out of the 4 people left). We decided to shop back at Bugis Junction. (Actually looking for my stuff) And i lingered on even after all of them left. Fortunately, I managed to buy everything that I set out to buy..

Anyway, just outside Bugis Junction, there was this Hello! stall in the open area. Square in shape with many counters in the inner circumference of the square. The thing is, there's a long queue over there but despite numerous attempts me and my fren din manage to find a single brochure explaining the queue. the people were purchasing handsets directly so it seems as though there's some great deal going on. But we never quite understood what they were :S

C510? T715?

Sunday, October 04, 2009 @ 12:29 PM
Bye C510. Hi T715?

Went to check out Singtel retail shop again today. I finally know why C510 is more ex than what it should be. Singtel has already stopped hosting the handset; hence the retailers are merely selling the handset with $200 discount.

Anyhow, the T715 was launched yesterday with an attractive price of $88. The salesgirl tried promoting the phone to me. I think the pink one looks really nice. Not that the pink looked nice, but I really liked the mirror finish of the pink version. It's something like F480. However, going for the T series will compromise many functions that I hoped to get out of a phone. The question I should be asking myself now is, do I really need a good camera phone? Would it suffice to get a phone with reasonable looks to last me for 2 years?
And of course, I think the problem of getting a launch batch. Usually they're filled with bugs. Moreover, price might go down further, considering the low-spec of the phone. However, it might go up too depending on the demand driving force. Nonetheless, price isn't the top of my concern now since it's quite a cheap handset le. It's a matter of what phone serves my purpose best. I guess I am the only one who can answer that question, but I really dunno...

C510 VS C901

Since im relatively free now for AOB, i find myself looking at phones intensively now -.- T715 is released in Singapore! As usual, I'm easily tempted by other phones and yes, I'm once again pondering which phone i should get.

Currently the 2 contesters are: C510 and C901.
C510 - 3.2MP camera "only" which shouldn't be very much better than my current phone. however, i like the mirror on the screen =X I like shiny phones. lol.
C901 - Supposedly best 5MP SE camera phone. but IMO, it's really ugly. looks ok on photos but the real thing is terrible. The whole thing is really plastic kind of plastic =X

I should think that the main differentiating point now would be price. C510 ought to be cheaper than C901, but the weird pricing system @ singtel doesn't allow me to find out their prices. :( but anw, after convincing myself that I should be practical and get C901, I sort of reverted back to my original choice of C510. lol.

Efficiency + Applause

Hmm.. I'm seriously stunned by the efficiency of my macro econs lecturer. We just had our mid-terms yest morning and the results are out by evening time. Furthermore, he actually looked into issues such as "wrong shading of matric number", even to the very last person "who had an empty answer" which prompted him to check against the person's bubble sheet. lol it's a cohort of 300+ ppl lor. I've always suspected that he's a highly efficient achiever. but this is really efficient :O

Anw, with the end of the first half of the semester, there's gonna be some manpower re-deployment. Hmm.. I think that there are some lecturers that we should truly applaud, less for their great knowledge/teaching method but more for their dedication to the whole learning process. (that being said, I think they taught well too) How often do you get an email from a lecturer thanking us for the efforts put into his module? Not to mention his great patience in clarifying doubts and making us see the logic behind the concepts. (Which results in understanding of materials rather than a mindless charge forward just to "complete the syllabus") Lol and not forgetting his attempt in hinting us for the mid-terms in a subtle manner. (i think it's a rather cute move. cuz it seems like he's setting up traps in the mid-terms to truly test our concepts up to the finest details. yet, he cant bear seeing all of us falling into the trap and hence hints to us to look out for such things haha) And i think he's innocently funny eg. during tutorial presentation, he suspciously moved to the presenting group (I thought he had some questions about their presentation) when he suddenly burst out the question "How did you write on these powerpoint slides? So interesting" LOL!

I think ppl with high abilities impresses me, but it is those with passion that leaves a long-lasting impression in me.

Friday, October 02, 2009 @ 9:27 PM
It's the end... of mid terms!

:) End of Mid-terms! FINALLY! It's particularly nerve-wrecking this time round. I really prefer the last 2 sems where mid-terms are squeezed at the beginning of the week. Esp Sem 1 where I can declare myself a free being after the first day of sch re-open. haha. 4 out of my 5 mid-terms are packed on Thurs and Fri (like every single moment of my school time is spent on tests lol). And the week becomes a long draggy journey. But anyhows it's all over! :D

Okies, it's gonna be an enjoyable weekend! Next week's e-learning. Okies im still going back school every day, but it's ok. There's no point grumbling about anything haha at least I don't have to spend long hours in school! :D

Anw just something from 溏心风暴's ending.. Xiao Bao's words "Everything has changed." had a great impact on me. Actually apart from that incident in their family, i should say their family is a harmonious one. Yet even if things are looking good, changes are still occurring. Slowly, people will move away from status quo. If we think that we are able to hold onto anything forever, it's just gonna be disappointing. When everyone's moving on with their lives, we realise that we too have to move on. Is this a self-fulfilling prophecy?

Life's a lonely journey. Along the way, others join in. But ultimately, you still have to reach the end yourself.

It's time to stop

It's time to stop grumbling over everything and move on in life. I'm so irritated at how I'll remind myself of small little details of life every now and then.

It's not okay to say that it's okay if I've haven't gotten over things. If I'm truly okay with it, it's time to stop thinking about it and move on with life.

I'm really irritated at the fact that even though I try to have such attitudes, I can't sustain my "energy" in trying to keep my efforts going. Recurring thoughts surface, together with the temptations to run to others to bemoan about all those little unfortunate events.

Sometimes I feel bounded by my own thoughts and suffocated by my misgivings. Really, what's the point of all these?

Fortunate Unfortunate

It was fortunate that the shirt that dropped into the pail of water was the worn one.
It was unfortunate that soon after that the shorts that I'm about to put on dropped into the pail too -.-
