Harper's Island Eps 7 Oh man! Eps 7 of Harper's Island was just SO GOOD! whatever question marks i had were clarified, well i mean with regards to the background of Harper's Island. I wonder if this is accidental or does it point towards something? Henry has been associated with the initial "W" twice. First on the wedding invitation which writes Henry W. Dunn. Next was the cap he wore 7 years ago. What a big W on his cap. Many people have switched their guess to Jimmy. He wasn't even in my watchlist for the past 6 episodes but there's something weird about him in eps 7. i cant figure out what exactly is so weird about him though. it does appear that Jimmy is always around trouble on Harper's Island 7 years ago. still he's not on my watchlist - yet. Another thing about the show is that.. the characters have formed certain impressions of some people based not on what happened but what others say. I bet there's someone controlling all these "sayings". Eg. Lucy's dead but there was someone who said that she left with a guy. Prob is, nobody is able to track back to the person who first made that statement. Or Madison's testimony after Thomas died. Isn't it strange how the people started finding Richard suspicious after she revealed that he was the one who wanted her to lie to the Sheriff? If she could lie to the police, why would she be so willing to say out who was the one who wanted her to lie in the first place? Unless someone told her to tell the lie, and reveal that it was her dad that wanted her to tell the lie. Or.. like wad we see today, she receives a card with some instructions and follows them thinking it was from her dad; yet she ends up being kidnapped - her dad's already dead. so.. could she be thinking that the secret someone talking to her was her dad, when actually it's not? anw the point is.. there were so many things that happened without us seeing it, rather someone was creating all these impressions. Isn't it weird how we take some things said/done as real evidences. Eg1. why do we always think that someone has Uncle Marty's hp? he texted henry.. but.. When "Uncle Marty" appears, it does not necessarily mean that it is indeed Uncle Marty on the other side. Who knows? Perhaps Henry saved JD's number as Uncle Marty? Eg2. The sheriff tells Abby about her mum's affair with Wakefield. How does she know that she can take every single word of his as the truth? Eg3. Why is it so easy to trust Cole's words when he suddenly appears with that half-burnt face? I have a feeling im missing out on some things. Some clues. Some facts? @ 11:52 AM
The Game Theory of Life Everyone will be happy and better off if every single persons trusted each other and cared for one another from the bottom of their hearts. Yet should there be some people who take advantage of this trust and betray the others, those with a pure heart will end up hurt whereas the betrayer will be better off. (that is, before the betrayer realises that he/she has actually lost something even more precious) Hence everyone dare not place 100% trust in one another for the sake of protecting their own interest/pride/feelings. Mistrust and suspicions arise between people, sometimes justifiable yet other times unfounded. We know that we can be happier if we could let go of such suspicions; yet we still opt for the latter. Essentially we haven't learnt how to trust everybody such that there is nobody left to suspect and it's all because of the potential somebody who don't deserve our trust. Or does that somebody exist in the first place? Is that somebody an image that we created in our mind to justify our acts of self-protection? Did our distrust and suspicion bring that virtual somebody into reality? How do we let go of all inhibition and live our life the way we truly wanted it to be? Actually being selfish isn't that bad rite? If we lived our life the way we wanted it to be, without having judgement of how we should live it for others or how others might want us to be; we might end up with a better ability to care for others truly from the bottom of our hearts. Yet when we tend towards being selfless, we might end up making decisions that we thought would be better for others or on the basis that others were who we thought they were; those decisions might not be for the better. Maybe we have a too prejudiced viewpoint of what selfish meant. Saturday, May 30, 2009 @ 11:42 PM
Mini class gathering had a mini class gathering today. ~4 ppl which grew to 5 ppl then shrunk to 4 ppl and finally 3 ppl. LOL! but it was a really fun day! we din do anything too exciting, but i quite like to just sit around and chat and relax. esp when it's a small group :) first we went to Shokudo @ Raffles City for lunch. for the sake of looking pro, I shall say it's a Japanese version of Marchee. But honestly speaking, I stil have no idea wad Marchee is and neither have i been there. HAHA!! I was really spoilt for choice. Grr and i quite regretted not getting the miso soup/ vege + mushroom hotpot. MISO SOUP!!
After that we headed for Iluma. I just realised how close City Hall is to Bugis. U can walk there like in 5min flat. lol. Took that long long escalator again. And that cold cold escalator that we tot led to nowhere initially (as in during my 1st visit) went into Tornado (yay! i rmb the name!) there was like some tournament inside. I stil don get the place. is it LAN/game place/tournament place/pub/club?? Headed towards Bugis Junction for dinner. weirdly enough actually. i think it's cuz i wanted to get the fake XXL ShiLin chicken :S settled for food court. haha. i think after being "pampered" by fast food and restaurant (not the high class one la), I begin to be attracted back to food courts. I guess there's always a limit to how much you can explore and eventually you'd return back to where you belong to?? HAHA! $ wise, food court is indeed more economical. I'm not earning money so I shouldn't be wasting $ too readily too. but gotta pull the rest down with me though :X Pepperlunch for dinner. No there's no contradiction. Unagi Egg rice set on discount. Lol it's not the discount that mattered that much. I like unagi and egg ok? but of course the discount did propel me to make the decision more readily :) After that got more eating and drinking (bubble tea..). Plus a visit to arcade cuz they wanted to play bball. been a long time since i last went arcade. Actually i think arcades are fine with me. Though a bit noisy, but it's the better alternative to clubs (to me. but then again haven been to any clubs. neither am i wishing to go to any) I only threw one ball which hit the ceiling -.- ok malu shot 1 and only 1. haha! I think im addicted to taking photos of food. Sometimes it can give you more joy and less trouble. wahaha. Friday, May 29, 2009 @ 11:21 AM
Results for Sem 2 okies results are out! now i feel more at ease to giv an ending summary to the mods i took and then throw them out of my mind~ CM1502 General and Physical Chem for Engineers Quite A-level. It did actually made me think that going the pure Chemistry route wasn't suitable for me. I guess I'm easily bored by all those theoretical details. It didn't mattered to me when did who find what most of the time. And it didn't really bothered me how they derived their conclusion; I just needed to apply the knowledge. So I guess going the engineering route was more suitable for me ba? Ya I'm quite scared of labs too.. haha.. CN1111 Chemical Engineering Principles Initial phase was really miserable man!! U get a tutorial of 10 questions and you managed to solve.. 0. same goes for your frens. :S And then you get things like "Vapour pressure isn't pressure of vapour" :S but gradually i got the hang of it but honestly even though i grasped the concepts about Rault's law etc, I still can't say confidently im able to solve such questions. Sometimes from a one line question, you somehow can derive a whole lot of r/s and solutions. LOL! and yes it's my first exposure to real chem engin stuff. IT1005 Introduction to Programming with Matlab From this moment, Matlab has officially become our "good friend". lol! no joke, it's gonna be our programming language for the next 4 years. This module was relatively easy and the past year papers were easy BUT not our paper. haha in fact there was this 30-mark question that kept haunting me. I really din wan2 think about it, but one morning when i was brushing my teeth, suddenly the "correct" ans struck me and i started thinking over my codes (which obviously i cant recall in whole) and ended up being super paranoid. haha but overall i quite enjoyed "programming" (a bit ban men nong fu in front of all those C++/Java user :P) MA1506 Mathematics 2 Actually it's quite enjoyable lei.. More fun than MA1505. Concepts weren't that tough actually. I still can't really get over the fact that i forgot sec/JC maths + the answer was staring at me in my help sheet yet i din see it. haha! but ok la.. what's over is over. in the literal of all sense, cuz it's the LAST pure maths module we hav. all the maths that we ever needed for the 4 year study has been compressed and squeezed into these 2 modules. haha. SSA2204 Nation Building in Singapore It was a struggle at first cuz got so MUCH READINGS!! but later on I enjoyed the module. At least I can confidently say that I know more about Singapore now :) I must really say it's all thanks of my tutor cuz he really makes lesson fun and his organisation of facts is really good! At first im seeing a whole mess of facts all around, but after his tutorials, those facts were organised into neat tables for easy studying :) I'm glad I bothered to type those tables; at least for the finals I din hav to to do the readings anymore. haha. oh yes and fortunately i nv throw away sec sch ss guidebook. hehe! Basically my results was the same as Sem 1. But then both my CAPs inproved. LOL! It's rather bizzare how they allocate CAP between 2 degrees. At one look it seems like my econs degree is doing worse BUT actually i've only taken 1 econs module thus far and it should give me a 5.0 though this isn't the case. I still find it very funny how my CAP for both degrees is lower than my CAP had there only been a single degree. I thought one shld be higher then the other lower so the average is the CAP for a single degree. haha. And i realise that so far, my "worse-er" modules are those that's pure in nature, eg. maths and chem (=`( haha ok la) oh and my grades are symmetrical. lol just realised. boredom Really quite bored.. tried to play bejeweled, half-heartedly. stopped after half an hour when in the past i can go on for hours and hours and hours despite the need to stop. tried to play maple (spent an hour patching), but still im bored in the game. maybe it's a better alternative than getting addicted though. tried to watch dance of passion today but the starting was totally off. tried to start watching some other shows but often stop here and there. tried to find some books to read, but thru nlb search i realise all of them cant be found in bedok lib. -.- and the only one that was found in bedok was classified as missing -.- tried to read my duck book but couldn't get past a single page. tried to install flash menu on my phone but always lazy to search for usb cable. tried to k at home but the list of mv to play gets exhausted somehow. anw i think im getting retro with female songs. so weird in the past i nv listen to female songs de. tried to do something on fb and mayb do that zillion of quizzes but eventually didn't cuz honestly i think it's quite stupid at times and perhaps im past my addiction phase. i dunno wad kind of culture fb is breeding. why do i feel the need to publish stuff on fb anyway? actually i can watch newest eps of harper's globe but i think i'd leave it till tomorrow la. heh a bit scary to watch at nite. :) im wasting time away... wad can i do? 《凤凰四重奏》思嘉 篇 really cant help but to blog this - I REALLY LIKE THE LAST COUPLE ALOT!! i think the 4th story is the best of all! SIJIA!!when i 1st saw the advertisement, I thought i would never be able to see myself as the woman in the last generation - living such a wild life, with that blown up hairstyle and her playful attitude. but i was terribly wrong. I think she's the best of the 4 women lorx.. I guess the attribute that i admire most about Sijia is her "real-ness". There are things that she said which does seem to be rebellious but they did manage to convince me. "If cohabiting with a guy while earning her own keep means that the girl is And she's not petty too! She goes around telling people not to be so petty and she has every rights to do so! Her uncle might always be ready to shoot her down, but when she discovers his affairs, she doesn't grab the chance for revenge. Instead, she tries to keep the whole matter down. I like how she is able to let go of all anger and not bear grudges! At times, I find myself agreeing with the notion that marriage shouldn't be sought as an end. Sijia hadn't explicitly made her stand about why she isn't keen about marriage though. But i think that marriage is but a mere symbolic move. It doesn't really change anything. Rather than being committed to a marriage, it's more important for a couple to be committed to each other; and this should come naturally with or without a marriage. When the love disintegrates, the marriage becomes a mere piece of paper burdening both parties that signed it. It might be able to hold 2 person together, but only in words. if things had to come to such a stage, wouldn't separation be a better choice? Give the other party and yourself another chance. Really, when things come to a stage where you need to get a divorce, isn't it better to spare yourself the agony and cumbersome legal issues? It's easier to pack up and just go. On the other hand, a marriage that is maintained just for the very sake of not going through the process of divorce is really just meaningless. I think marriage should just be seen as something rather natural which comes when marriage itself is no longer important in ascertaining the love between two parties (if u see my point..) There are many things that we don't do because we shouldn't be doing them. But ask ourselves, do we sincerely and seriously think that we can't do them and shouldn't do them? Or are we just putting up a show to indicate that we're on the right track? I think Sijia is simple being herself, in the truest of all sense. It's easy to go down hard on characters like her, but think again, she's just doing/saying some stuff that probably we hope we might be doing. Not that I literally mean we should go sell beer tomorrow. lol. I like her criticism of Jia-an - "You appear to be nonchalent and generous about many things. But really you are calculating everything in your heart, so why act generous?" Very true. And often we are like Jia-an. We can be telling others, "I din want to say this but..", "you also..." whenever we are in an argument. Sometimes we hold ourselves back because it only seemed the "right" thing to do. But seriously, everytime we make a conscious effort to hold something back, it's still being recorded in our hearts and minds. Sometimes it's even worse cuz we are making a judgement or conclusion about others without even giving them a chance to explain/clarify. If you voiced out every displeasures, you are seen to be petty. Even if you did not, it doesn't mean you are generous either. Which to be - a really petty person or a fakely generous person? I've always found it intriguing how to find the balance point, where you don't say too little that you appear fake nor too much that you hurt others. I'm just not a PR person i guess. I'm just glad that at certain point of my lives, there are certain people who tolerated my behaviour. I just can't express how much I admire SiJia!! :) Having her own beliefs and sticking strongly by them; yet she doesn't really have that strong a personality too. She's just like any other girl-next-door, just with a tad more rebellious streak perhaps? Tuesday, May 26, 2009 @ 11:45 PM
《书包太重》 hmm i wasn't too engrossed in this show. Just thought that the whole story is like scattered sand with random plots here and there. there were some stuff that i liked though.. 1) the normal stream student telling Mr Tan that they missed them thru Rui En. Sometimes students do have love-hate r/s with their teachers right? but i think once their schooling ends, whatever misgivings they once had would be resolved. Sometimes we complain about some teachers as a student, but after graduation, the stories of the past become points of laughter and entertainment for us, don't they? Deep down, I think most of us are grateful towards our teachers rather than bearing grudges from 10 years ago? 2) Rui En revealing her past as a normal stream student. She was always striving for excellence and pushing for ideas of elitism so it did come as a shock to me. I guess she was intially unable to come in terms with her past. But ever since she was able to reveal her unglorious past, I guess she is now at ease with her past and most importantly, herself. It did made me think about an idea i was playing with previously.. Perhaps a "bad" student will make a better teacher than a "good" student. After all, they are the ones who best understand students' mentality having lived through those rebellious times themselves. @ 11:44 PM
Bowling Session went for a "bowling" session today. haha. we ended up sitting down at Yoshinoya and Starbucks (without ordering anything from them *oops*) chatted bout some stuff and we realised how far we've come. haha. more plans for future years. lol somethin v. funny was said over the radio. someone kinda sprained his/her neck like Auntie Lucy. not a very good thing to laugh about, but when toking about Auntie Lucy just made it seems funny. HAHA! @ 11:48 AM
Harper's Globe and Island been trying to figure out how to use Harper's Globe. I still don't quite the videos though.. New characters like Robin, Dangerous Wreck and Cashiere Cat (CC). I think the videos are creepy. Sometimes they'd insert scary images for a split second in the video such that you won't be able to see it as you watch the video unless you play and pause every single sec. And i managed to capture a fuzzy image of a woman (without her face) in between a conversation. What is this supposed to mean?? There were many other such images seen by the forummers but it's too tiring trying to pause at the precise moment to capture that image. Anw, i've been thinking over it.. I don't think I want to give JD the clear. He was once off our list cuz he's too obviously a suspect with his weird gestures and behavior. And now he's still off many people's list cuz he "sincerely wants to track down the murderer". On further thought, I think that's a reason why he could still be the murderer. when someone becomes overly zealous in trying to track down the murderer, it could mean that he will be spearheading the investigation. So far we've seen this - JD found Uncle Matyr's cut body (both parts); JD wanted to look at Wakefield's grave; and the last scene of him with that burnt policeman. He either seriously found those stuff by accident/instinct, or it was a deliberate move to lead the people into thinking in the direction he wanted them to. I'm trying to fix the puzzle of Harper's Island and Harper's Globe together. Assuming my observation that Madison was present in the videos of Harper's Globe is correct, what does this mean?
Shall think over it. Monday, May 25, 2009 @ 4:36 PM
Harper's Island Midway Point my whole of today was spent reading up on Harper's Island (lol not too long though. i woke up at ~12 and i slept again at 2+ only to wake up a few mins ago). shall share a few thoughts about the show.. firstly, i don't really get how the people are interacting or how the hints about the killer is being revealed. simple reason, it's in English and there's no subtitle. i cant exactly follow a Chinese show without subtitles for me to read along, what's more an English show where the casts enjoys speaking softly with heavy panting voices -.- not to mention its telecast time overlaps with my magic show on Channel u, so my attention is diverted. hahaha so don ask me bout the story/character (Im trying to figure it out too) Next. Been reading up on others' analysis of the show in forums. all i can say is.. either they're too shallow in their thinking (pointing out the obvious suspect, who were then killed off in subsequent episodes) or too complex in their thinking (eg. they can research on what the colour red is and give the whole historical background of it). Based on my own experience of watching detective shows (usually Jap though. this is my 1st English deduction show i think), usually viewers just have to figure out some anomaly and the character's r/s does not play a major role in deducing the murderer. (their r/s do account for why those murders were commited but is unnecessary in figuring out the murderer himself/herself) The producer has also commented that the idea behind Harper's Island is Simple + and you need not watch from the beginning to understand + after 13 episode, you'd realise that each eps is a standalone cool! exactly wad i needed. so i don hav to rewatch the 1st episode for hints. My Analysis
Okies 2 July is the finale~ @ 12:28 AM
V for Vendetta Been watching a couple of movies recently but V for Vendetta had to be one of the best! ![]() it somewhat reminds me of Monster. We have a character V who was the survivor (i believe sole survivor) of an awful experiment conducted by the government. V then embarks on a journey to dispose of the people who were once involved in the experiment. The end of the journey involved the meeting of the maker aka the main person responsible for the experiment. In the process V evoked fear in people and perhaps the government too. (branded as terrorist) He was seen as a monster, yet it was likely that they had yet to truly understand his motive yet. Summary: Britain is now under totalitarian government, with censorships, curfews and secret police (those stuff u find associated with totalitarian). V tries to overthrow the government for freedom and he seeks the cooperation of the people. He was motivated by a revolutionary idea, one that stood the test of time and one that fought for freedom. The most intriguing parts of the show involved the Larkhil concentration camp and the "experiment" V conducted on Evey. I didn't exactly enjoy seeing humans going through experimentations as though their lives were worthless though. Well i guess experiments usually go wrong; irregardless of the motives or the end that resulted. Was the government trying to ensure national security or was the Chancellor trying to gain more power? Did it change matters even though V seemed to have lied to Evey to assist her in overcoming her fears? Larkhill went terribly wrong because almost all those being experimented upon died; or did it produce a V that eventually found new opportunities of freedom for the country? Evey now had a shadow of going through tortures; yet it did somehow made her stronger; does this justify what V did? It leaves me to wonder what is human instinct/nature. Are we who we are because of the environment we were brought up in? (not referring to eg. rich perhaps buying branded; then poor living in small flats) in a totalitarian society, are we who we are because our inherent self was suppressed by fears, or is that truly who we are? So far i've seen stories and shows looking at dystopia society when measured against our moral standards; yet I do wonder if that clouds our judgement. Yet to go under the veil of ignorance - could that turn out to be an ignorant decision instead? Tabula rasa or inherent characteristics? And i realise that in most shows, a society that deviates from what we know normally is usually headed by a leader that has his own hidden personal agenda. All those fanciful slogans are merely tools of mind-control and the leaders don't mean what they say. Yet how about having a dystopia society with a government that truly stood to what it believed in? Probably that doesn't give him/them the rights to impose their viewpoint on the citizens as a whole; but does this make their action more justifiable as compared to someone who pursues his own interest under the facade of "for the betterment of all"? I'm tempted to give this show a 5/5. hmm but there might be better shows next time? 4.5 then. haha. same ranking as The Matrix. but i thought it was better than Matrix though cuz it involved things that were more realistic perhaps? Matrix had the upperhand in portraying its sophisticated ideas cuz it brought reality that we know of to another level. Given the constraint V for Vendetta had, I think this show was more superior. :) Sunday, May 24, 2009 @ 12:24 AM
The mystery.. unsolved This is a case of a lost handphone pouch.. Most probable location: Subway Most probable time of loss: During dinner The sequence of events: Took wallet and hp (in pouch) to order food --> took out hp to sms --> used hp to call --> ordered food --> placed hp and wallet on the tray --> wrong change given; picks up walllet --> collects drink --> sat down --> took photo --> received a call (the hp was no longer in the pouch) --> continues eating --> clears tray Possible outcomes: - Misplaced at counter when recieving correct change. (staff would have called out?) - Left it behind at drinks counter. (probably fren would have seen it? but if owner din notice, maybe others won't too) - Dropped on floor. (not likely. went back to check with staff) - Placed on tray and threw it away. (had proof in photo showing it wasn't on tray) - In my bag. (Checked so many times; still unfound) Conclusion: Unconcluded it was a birthday gift for me from many of my frens. used it for many years le :`( Probably the dropping of the keychain was an omen? oh wells, it's easy to make such unlinked conclusion so i don really subscribe to that either. haix.. it's just a material stuff; the sincerity and memories behind the pouch will still remain ba.. A day of moving Wow! wad a great workout today! ever since PE ended like 2 years ago, I haven't been moving much. Started off early in the morning @ Toa Payoh. hmm TMSA MacRitchie hiking and there was like 6 of us present?? haha! noting that we took half the population; and the organising comm the other half?? :P Later on we went to Bedok, thinking of K-ing. But then i think we went to the wrong one and the whole place didn't feel right. so it was quickly (or rather, slowly) replaced by a cycling trip at ECP. i stil think i made the whole trip draggy and not fun with my constant stopping =X Friday, May 22, 2009 @ 9:46 PM
Job and School went to recruit express with sarah today. lol i officially declare myself as being potentially employed thru agency. quite paiseh made her change her plans for the day to fit my schedule :( and im quite sure we meant to create some chaos @ Orchard early in the morning. laughing and laughing and laughing in such a formal and serious place. haha! then we quite blur lei. after submitting the form, we almost left lei. almost stepped into the lift if the lady had not stopped us. yuan lai gotta do the "interview" on the spot one. but more of casual conversation la so still ok :) our "agent" was a temp staff too which kinda made me feel more at ease. Let's hope we can get a job at the same place! then u can start bringing me on eating spree liao. :P Later on we had lunch at Crystal Jade. hmm my 1st time there. i din quite like the place la cuz it smelt very porkish. HAHA! with such perception of the place, i ordered food with cautions - err some chicken and vege noodle. but i felt some traces of pork lingering somewhere; prob in the stock/soup. GRR! lol but ok la we started our camera attack of each other :) and now i have the advantage cuz i upload 1st on fb! -.- jkjk After that rushed back to NUS cuz of the welcome tea. err which turned out to be the welcome tea for Chem Eng as a course. LOL then we were needed only during the break! !_! haha but quite ok la can meet up with some of my frens then just chat chat. after all im bored at home! the turnout was rather alarming! so many girls. really.. it's like maybe less than 10 guys out of that whole bunch (ok la not alot to start with..) of people present. is chem engin starting to be dominated by girls?? i cant believe im moving on to Year 2 so quickly le. these people that im seeing are gonna be my juniors?! you mean im no longer a freshie?? but ok la non-freshie also feels quite goood; at least a bit more experienced and less naive and blur :) after that the 3 of us decided to go bugis walk walk. headed towards iluma (dunno if i spelt correctly). since sarah recommend in the morning, i went to take the long escalator up from the 1st to 5th floor (i think). no that pix is not that escalator. that one too high then i dun dare to release my hands to take photo (plus got alot of ppl blocking my way -.-) in the pix above, that's the escalator leading you to the top floor (which is rather hidden away. we were rather apprehensive intially cuz you really cant tell wad's above except perhaps the roof le) and it's really REALLY cold along the way (so much so that we tot it's ice skating arena above -.-) Iluma was ok la. nothing much, except for fun and food. haha. nothing much to shop de. :) Yay! a day spent away from my computer is well appreciated. Time of Eve Ep. 4 - Nameless oohh HAHAHA episode 4 of "Time of Eve" - Nameless was truly hilarious!! ![]() I'm beginning to like this anime because of this episode!! :) "Kantoran, remember this name." Name. What exactly is it? Something so obvious and simple; yet holds significance far beyond what it appears to be. This recurring theme in Monster and Time of Eve is truly intriguing.

friendster when have i last checked my friendster account? when did i shift completely over to facebook? I think i have a warped sense of my own timeline. The last photo update i did was rather recent. erm within a year? Yet it felt as though friendster was out of my mind for years. human mind is indeed interesting, in terms of how it organises and interprets information, inclusive of making the choice to believe/retain what it wants to. Attempted to creat themes Chanced upon a theme creator software by SE so decided to have a go at it. err i had no inspiration as to what to use for my standby and desktop pix hence the weird selection. i tot the 2nd one was quite funny tho cuz their face appeared to be stuck to the icons. lol. i liked the effects of the banner! (bottom left and right) but sadly enough.. whatever that was shown in the preview did not appear right on my phone. -.- sob sob! something went wrong with the alignment :( @ 5:02 PM
寂寞光年 - 刘力扬 Song for upcoming show "The Ultimatum".
Been enjoying Jade's recent new songs. I thought it was sung by JS when i first heard it on radio. There's a recurring theme/desire in 一个人就好 and 寂寞光年。 "融化这颗坚强的泡沫" - 泡沫哪会坚强呢?要是有人用心触碰,就会立刻融化。但问题是,他们不存在。从此,泡沫变得坚强了。 @ 4:41 PM
Tidy table finally settled down to tidy my room.. table. and i hardly threw away anything -.- felt good though; at least things are tidy now. :) but i was sneezing throughout cuz of the dust :( my nose literally almost flew away. achoo~ @ 12:37 PM

Monster - The End ![]() hmm the big conspiracy that i expected wasn't present in the ending, but putting aside my expectations, I think the ending was rather ok. Viewed in its entirety, the entire anime was captivating - it had various elements, ie. suspense, horror (a bit.), action, thinking, philosophy, emotions (yup perhaps the most important element too). somehow i feel that Johan was the scapegoat to the entire event; just like how Tenma was the misunderstood one on the run. many a times, we just need someone to take the blame/responsibility; and we embark on a journey to mark someone down. in the process, we forgot about the casual factors behind whatever that happened. ![]() Did this person truly evoked fear in whoever that saw him? or did those that felt fear had a guilty conscience to start with? What did he really do? What was so fearful about him? What was it that allowed him to manipulate people? i do think that those people hu were manipulated had their own dark secrets; those who were murdered died for a reason. Strictly speaking, he had a warped sense of morality. Greatly distorted from his childhood experiences. Whatever that he did can't be measured adequately using our standard; it will all seem too wrong. While we thought life was equal, he thought death was the only thing that made people equal. In some sense, could he have wanted "good" for the people in his own ways? Achieving his sense of equality through deaths? His doings were wrong, but was he wrong in doing his wrongdoings? Wolfgang Grimmer. Probably the character that left the deepest impression in me. His death was a sad one. As a child, his memories and name was taken away from him in an experiment. As a youth, he was trained as a spy and the hardest lesson he found was how to smile. Such a natural emotion; yet he had to learn it with much difficulty, that was how much his self was destroyed by the orphange. His son died and his wife left him; yet he did not feel sadness nor did he teared. In fact, he constantly had to ask "Is this how I should be feeling now?" Or "how should i be feeling now?". Moments before his death, he finally found back the emotions he lost. And he died with tears in his eyes; tears for his dead child.Such a painful character; yet maybe he didn't know that the pain he was feeling was pain. He just felt as though he didn't exist; it must have been terrible for him. Yet he was constantly smiling, not because he was happy (i dun think he truly knew what was the smile for), but because he was programmed to do so. Painful indeed. Some thoughts/Questions
Some afterthought of the show hmm overall i think tat the show was captivating. I really liked the historical context of the anime - Hitler, Berlin Wall, East and West Germany, Secret Police, communist, Czech etc. still, 74 episodes is really too long for me. i think i wun be doing another anime marathon for a long time to come. truthfully speaking, though the story as a whole was good, it was draggy at some points and certain plots were not needed for (except to add on to the atmosphere) Monday, May 18, 2009 @ 10:14 PM
Monster towards the end im nearing the end of Monster.. but i got a feeling it's not gonna be satisfying enough lei. *Spoilers ahead* I mean ya, a disaster is gonna occur in the small town. but what's the worse that can happen? Distrust, suspicions and eventually the wiping out of the entire town, by the town people themselves? at least that's the worse scenario i can think of, assuming that the show doesn't bring in some super power suddenly. As for the twist about Johan/Nina's experience. hmm.. it was surprising but not shocking enough. i've always thought that there's something more wrong with Nina than Johan. well call this too normal to be true? err i accidentally saw that there's something wrong with Roberto, that's gonna be revealed soon. he does feel more ruthless than Johan, though Johan appears to be more emotionless. There's a monster living in each and everyone of us. Slowly consuming and eroding the "us" away. @ 5:24 PM
Monster.... currently at eps 61 of Monster.. Disillusion I think this word suited the characters in the show more than whatever inspirations/ideal state/selfish agenda they were trying to attain. Throughout the whole show, the characters like to go "I understand.." "Do you understand..." without giving us more insights to what they are trying to understand/understood. hmm although i do like such feelings at times cuz u get to think over what is it that they understood, but when it occurs so many times without an exact direction to head towards, it doesn't really feel all that good after all. haha. I certainly do hope that the ending justifies all these suspense. storybooks with rather sick ideas of monsters. yet to the children, it was a form of total freedom. yes they were freed from the social norms. but are they really free? why must true freedom be associated with evils? if the social norm were one that represented "good"; did breaking free of the social norms literally mean going the opposite way, ie. embracing evil? was that a fallacy in the thoughts of "those high up ppl in the organisation" or in my own thoughts? by embracing evil to attain freedom, you are merely falling into another trap that confines your freedom. and somehow i feel that those who are trying to exterminate evil are falling deeper into darkness themselves. perhaps the hero will still remain as the hero at the end of the show, but i stil think that they've lost themselves along the way. @ 12:55 AM
Monster at halfway mark okies.. im slightly more than the halfway mark of "Monster". my 1st thought now is.. creepy. especially eps 44 and 45 that i've just watched. and i think wadeva sypnosis that i've read about Monster ain't doing the show justice. it's not that plain simple as those description - definitely not just an operation gone wrong; neither is it really a hospital show; it isn't just a clearcut struggle between light and darkness. Those were really push factors that stopped me from starting on this anime many times. i think only the advertisement on Okto did the show justice. back to the show.. potentially spoilers intially, it was rather captivating. Things like the right decision to save a boy on the operation table turned out to be a terribly wrong decision. That's quite a punch; but mans this anime is more than that. later on like 1/4 of the anime, there were some small little secrets here and there that kept you going. conspiracies theories and those horrible stuff. but generally i thought it was getting rather draggy. it's as though there were some hidden truth about to be uncovered and it just died down; just when you are about to lose interest, another pops up. halfway thru i was getting quite restless. in fact i din really think of carying on with the anime. the reason why i continued was that there were no shows on tv worth watching. lol. and now.. the storybook about the monster. his background. his past. slowly revealing itself. i know that whatever i think i know now would be superficial as compared to the big thing that's gonna be uncovered along the way. all along, although Johan was portrayed as being completely evil (just as i was thinking about what is an inherently evil character all these while), it didn't give me the same feeling as i'm having now. even though whatever that's gonna happen from now on is likely to show that Johan isn't that inherently evil (probably something happened along the way); but i have a feeling that it's gonna be worse than my previous impression of him. an inherently evil person might not be all that scary; because it's just their nature. It is not motivated by some personal agenda. oh man.. u dunno hu to trust. Anna/Nina/Johan - they are one person? really twins? or is there a 3rd twin? (read someone speculating that) u place all ur trust on that one person when you realise you dunno who to trust out of all others; yet the person turned out to be the one that is to be least trusted. or is this really what's going on? Plots to mislead us? Reality? parallel truths? everything's collapsing on one another. what's going on? it's getting so breathless.. "If the monster you are looking for is a twin, look for the mother in Prague.." hmm ya i think the ending has got something to do with the mother cuz i accidentally had a glance at some spoiler? but i din read it though. *phew* Sunday, May 17, 2009 @ 9:10 PM
@ 7:38 PM
job seeking looking for jobs now.. but dunno how to start.. and i still dunno wad a resume should look like -.- should i really go through a job agency? wouldn't it be more mafan? but it's useless staring at websites eg. jobscentral, hoping to find jobs cuz at best there's only 1 update per day? i hope i can find a job together with my frens. tat'd make the job fun and interesting! but first up, HOW to find a job in the first place?? @ 6:46 PM

Comedians Sometimes, comedians turn out to be the serious players in life. They can laugh at life because they have understood life. Let's listen to the silent story behind their smiles and laughter. Friday, May 15, 2009 @ 11:28 PM
Thursday, May 14, 2009 @ 11:30 AM

Close the world, Open the next was randomly searching for a new dp for my blog when i chanced upon this quote from Lain - "Close the world, open the next". :)first few sec = favourite part of opening! "Present day, present time. wahahahhahahahah" creepy and good. basically i havent seen any other anime that has given me the same "feel" since Lain the serial experiment. real good! @ 10:47 AM
Identity Just a hypothetical case. A person, X, acts in a show that goes on forever within his lifetime. In this show, X is Y. X spends 10 hrs acting as Y, 8hrs sleeping and 6 hours being himself. The viewers recognises X as Y. The people who know X as X hardly gets to see X anyway; except from the screen where X is Y.
Just who exactly is X, being someone born as X, but spends majority of his time assuming the identity of Y. Tuesday, May 12, 2009 @ 9:07 PM
OF gathering 1 had a OF (old friends) gathering today! indeed we've been frens for a long time; and we (no no it's they.. im still ten plus only) are indeed old. lol. rather mini though. hope to expand the list next time round :P TMSA hiking?? first had lunch @ Swensens :) 1 for 1 lunch treat. Had Crayfish pasta (did it have the word "spicy" in it? it certainly din feel spicy. i added pepper like mad la; and stil not spicy -.-) not particularly nice. except for the crayfish maybe but it wasn't all that fresh either. lol. but the company was great though! later on we headed towards Suntec, where we almost malu-fied ourselves by playing music through the loudspeaker @ Epic Centre. so convenient for ipod touch to have youtube application - whatever MV u r looking for, just search directly in the shop. ROFL! and i had a glimpse at W705 again :) after that we somehow ended up at Auntie Anne and settled for some Pretzels. errr.. either it's not served hot, or their standard has deteriorated; but we didn't enjoy wad we were having one bit. :S and all of us honestly doubt the statement about the food being healthy. LOL! ooOOHH did i not mention? we were having some camera parade at the fountain in Suntec lo. our fav spot for taking photos. wahahha. and this was the very very important lesson learnt for the day!! :P nice meeting up with old frens! feels good just like back in those days ^^ till then! 爱就宅一起 i quite like this show. as compared to other taiwan idol show (i haven watched many either), i think it's more inward looking and realistic in portraying the characters. I like the multi-dimensional outlook of the characters. Mars - 外形旷野,有着明星的架势;但持有自己的原则,时而细心,也孝顺母亲。默默 - 宅女,迷恋Prince Casaba; 其实对事情有自己的看法,不愿为了合群而做出令自己不舒服的事。and many others too.. Yizhi, Tony-ge, momo's sis, jiasen etc.I quite like the character Yizhi after today. I thought he lacked a bit of principles. but actually i think he is someone who has reached an adequate balance between standing by his principles and managing reality. Not too stubborn nor too weak. He is clear about what he believes is the best action wrt a certain scenario and acts on it irregardless of how badly it might reflect on him. Anw, the show did convince me in some way. I thought that Momo would really leave Mars after he regained his fame again. After all they're really from 2 different worlds. And i feel that although it would pain Momo to leave Mars, it's gonna be a long and sad journey for Momo to see Mars happy in a world that she found hard to fit in. (having fame and popularity etc) But i think the reason that justified them getting together again was that.. Mars was the one that Momo could depend on. If not for the fact that he found her at the right time at the right place, she would have left him. For this very fact, it made Momo regain her confidence in Mars' promise that she'd never be alone again. 那从今以后,我一个人过就很好。- the premise for this sentence is that, if the world was really not one that she thought she could fit in and there was no one she could trust, she's better off alone. however, she found mars :) The songs in the show r so nice!! :) i mean Tank's 全世界都停电 and liu li yang's 一个人就好! another day of fun wohoo~ yet another day out! haha meeting for FWC :) and a day of fun. started off with gelare ice cream :) hmm actually i stil dun really see what's the special thing about the ice creams from famous places. haha. and the bulk of the day was spent playing.. either ps3 (some game that's like super mario and maple 3d) or application on itouch. heh really quite fun! we were like screaming and shouting away lorx. err and when going home, i told myself not to miss the eunos stn bus stop. (which my mum told me twice not to miss) and... i still missed it after all. -.-thanks to nus, i take bus 30 almost everyday. thanks to bus 30, the next stop of my missed stop is one that bus 30 passes by. hence it was still familiar. but gotta walk thru all the hdb buildings to get the the opposite bus stop though. -.- feel quite tired but happy now! :) tomolo is k session with cc! wohoo~ another day of fun!!
